He hits the mark when he’s talking about positioning. Venture Capital is an input, it has the same place in the entrepreneurial ecosystem as does getting a good PR firm to disseminate your content. That being said, just like a good PR firm, it’s only necessary when it is really necessary.

It’s entirely possible to build a company from scratch without having to dig into the pockets of VCs. Of course, you will end up creating a different kind of company than you might typically see using the venture model but there is nothing wrong with that.

I am really happy to see someone like Mr. Feld taking a look at his own role in entrepreneurship.
